Rescuing Horses in Crisis

Supporting the Virginia Range Wild Horses and more

Dedicated Assistance for Wild Horse Safety and Public Protection

Least Resistance Training Concepts (LRTC) is a Nevada based organization headquartered in Stagecoach, Nevada, providing hands on emergency equine response in support of Wild Horse Connection (WHC) and the broader equine community. While WHC holds an agreement with the State of Nevada to manage the Virginia Range Wild Horses, LRTC’s rescue capabilities extend to both wild and domestic horses. Working closely with our partners, LRTC focuses on animal rescue and immediate response to public safety hazards to protect both the public and all horses whether wild or domestic that roam or reside near the Virginia Range.

LRTC volunteers clearly identified in orange safety vests can be seen responding to reports of entanglements, and assisting wild and domestic horses in distress. Our teams are frequently called upon for rescue situations involving fencing, debris, or other hazards common in shared use landscapes.

LRTC also works alongside local and state law enforcement agencies during emergency situations, including incidents where wild or domestic horses are near high speed roadways or populated areas. These efforts help reduce vehicle collisions, protect motorists, and ensure the safety of the animals. All operations are conducted using specialized equipment and proven low stress techniques designed for both wild herd management and domestic horse handling, with safety as the top priority for people and animals alike.

Skilled Volunteers and Specialized Equine Operations

LRTC’s work extends beyond emergency response into proactive safety relocations and range management support. When conditions require it, our trained volunteers assist with moving wild horses from one area of the Virginia Range to another, helping reduce risk caused by wildlife corridor interruption, development, or traffic patterns. These relocations are carefully planned and executed using specialized tools and methods that minimize stress and prevent injury to the horses.

Our volunteers undergo extensive training in emergency equine response, domestic horse evacuations, and wild horse behavior. This preparation allows them to make informed decisions in rapidly changing environments. LRTC operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, ensuring rapid response when urgent situations arise. By combining physical capability, situational awareness, and coordination with Wild Horse Connection and public agencies, LRTC plays a vital role in responsible equine rescue and public safety across Northern Nevada.

Our Mission

LRTC’s mission is to provide skilled, compassionate, and effective emergency equine response in support of the Virginia Range wild and domestic horses. We are committed to protecting all horses within our community, assisting horse rescue efforts, and ensuring public safety through training, teamwork, and collaboration with Wild Horse Connection and local authorities.
